MIAMI – The Detroit Pistons suffered another blow in the second half Friday, Oct. 23, when Ausar Thompson slipped and fell.
Thompson exited their game against the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center midway through the third quarter after tweaking his right ankle. With 6:37 on the clock, Thompson rolled the ankle after accidentally stepping on Andrew Wiggins' heel. He was down for several seconds before finally limping back to the locker room.
Ron Holland subbed in for Thompson and the Pistons increased their lead to 103-80 at the end of the third quarter.
The Pistons earlier lost Jalen Duren in the second quarter with a right thigh injury, with Paul Reed filling his spot at center.
Duren left when he drove downhill against Heat superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo,
appeared to tweak something and started grabbing the area behind his right knee at 6:45 to play in the second quarter. Duren immediately exited the game and walked to the locker room, and later was downgraded to "questionable" with a right thigh injury.
The Pistons led the Heat 82-66 when Thompson suffered his injury. He had four points, four assists, three rebounds and a steal, including a rip of Antetokounmpo minutes before the injury, leading to an alley-oop assist to Cade Cunningham.
