One of golf's biggest stars is reportedly joining a Detroit-backed team.
Brooks Koepka, a five-time major winner, is joining TGL's Motor City Golf Club as the first player on the expansion franchise, the league announced Wednesday, Aug. 26 after reports earlier in the day.
Koepka primarily played on the LIV Golf tour from 2022-25 but left in December to resume his career on the PGA Tour and now is adding simulator golf to his resume.
His last major victory was in 2023 where he won the PGA Championship. He was scheduled to come to Detroit for the Rocket Classic in July, but withdrew in the days leading up to the tournament.
Motor City Golf Club is owned by private
investment group Middle West Partners, which includes Sheila Hamp, the owner of the Detroit Lions.
TGL played its inaugural season in 2025 with six teams: Atlanta Drive, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club.
All matches are played at SoFi Center – a facility designed specifically for the league that mimics a full-size golf course indoors using video screens and an adjustable putting surface – in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It cost $50 million to build and seats 1,500 people, according to the league.
