Democratic Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Republican U.S. Rep. John James – the candidates competing to be Michigan's next governor – will take to the debate stage for a final time at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at the WDIV studio in downtown Detroit.
Voting is already underway in the race to decide who will replace Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who cannot run for another term.
Benson, of Detroit, has promised to bring "costs down" and "wages up" if elected, zeroing in on cost-of-living challenges under President Donald Trump and emphasizing James' support for the president's agenda in Washington, D.C. James, of Shelby Township, has cast the upcoming election as an ideological fork in the road, calling Democrats "crazy" and Republicans
"common sense."
