Two juveniles have been identified in connection with a fire that damaged the playground of a Dearborn elementary school on the evening of Thursday, July 23, authorities said.
A resident alerted emergency
crews of the fire at Nowlin Elementary School's playground on Dearborn's west side, police said in a statement. Firefighters arrived to find the playground playscape "fully engulfed in flames."
Crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to other playground equipment, according to police. No injuries were reported.
"Dearborn Police detectives have identified two juveniles believed to be involved in the incident, and their parents or guardians are cooperating with investigators," police said.
The Dearborn Police Department and Dearborn Fire Department continue to investigate the incident, officials said. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible charges.
