The Detroit Lions had until 6 p.m. today to cut their roster from 91 players to the 53-man limit.
They made a few surprising moves, including releasing veteran slot receiver Greg Dortch, who had three seasons of experience with new Lions offensive coordinator Drew Petzing in Arizona. Dortch was expected to handle punt returns for the Lions and be their No. 4 receiver.
One player who is happy is tight end Jackson Meeks who has made the roster after switching from receiver.
Lions coach Dan Campbell said after his team's preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts that he planned to rewatch the game that night and meet with general manager Brad Holmes early Sunday to begin reducing the roster.
