Two Detroit Zoo staff members suffered minor injuries Sunday, Aug. 2, when one of the zoo's train cars derailed near the Rackham member's entrance, according to posts on thezoo's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
No guests were hurt, according to the posts, which were titled an "important notice" on both social media accounts. The incident happened at about noon, according to the posts. The zoois located in Royal Oak.
"The safety of our guests, staff and volunteers remains our highest priority, and we are working to determine what might have caused this incident," the posts said.
The posts said the train will remain closed until further notice.
If someone pre-purchased train tickets
online, the posts direct them to see a member of the zoo's guest relations team upon their arrival to the zoo to be issued a full refund.
No additional information was included in the posts. Messages were left for zoo communications seeking additional details.
