The Detroit Lions are getting close to regular-season action, with their second of three preseason games kicking off today.
The Lions host the Washington Commanders on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Ford Field in Detroit. The game will kick off at noon ET and will be televised on the Lions TV Network (WJBK-TV, or Channel 2 in Detroit, with streaming available on Fubo for Detroit-area viewers).
The Lions are 0-1 in preseason action, losing 16-14 to the Bengals in Cincinnati on Aug. 13. That game featured undrafted rookie quarterback Luke Altmyer taking the majority of snaps under center for the Lions, while quarterback Josh Dobbs is scheduled to start on Saturday. The veteran Dobbs so far has looked like the favorite to land the backup quarterback role,
though Altmyer, an undrafted free agent out of Illinois, still has time to show out and land a roster spot.

The Lions still have questions on their offensive line, especially with a wrist injury likely landing starting center Cade Mays on the sidelines for the first few games. The Lions also hope to identify starters in their secondary and see continued development from their recent draft picks, including former Michigan star Derrick Moore.
