Allen Park's Fairlane Green, commonly known as "the hill," is getting several new dining and retail options that may excite shoppers.
Developer ALRIG USA is bringing Shake Shack, Jersey Mike’s, CAVA, Honeygrow and El Car Wash to the outdoor mall, which already includes major retailers such as Target, Meijer, Barnes & Noble, Five Below, TJ Maxx, The Home Depot, Best Buy, LA Fitness and other businesses.
Fairlane Green is located at 3100 Fairlane Drive, between Southfield Freeway, Outer Drive, I-94, and Oakwood Boulevard in Allen Park.
Gabe Schuchman, founder and managing director of ALRIG USA, said the volume of shoppers visiting Fairlane Green totals "millions of trips per year."
Construction on Phase III began in the spring, and businesses are
expected to begin opening by the end of the year, Schuchman said.
One of the project's largest additions is El Car Wash, which Schuchman said will become the largest car wash facility in Michigan.
“El Car Wash is going to be building one of the first fully enclosed car washes in the state of Michigan,” Schuchman said. “It's going to be a 50,000 square foot facility; it's going to be the largest car wash facility in the state of Michigan ... which is so exciting.”
The development also includes improvements aimed at reducing traffic congestion around Fairlane Green.
“In order to reduce traffic congestion, we work hand in hand with the city of Allen Park and Wayne County ... to add a curb cut directly onto Southfield Road and a curb cut directly onto Oakwood Boulevard, and also making signal improvements to the current traffic lights at Oakwood Boulevard and Fairlane Drive,” Schuchman told the Free Press.
The project will also create a direct access point between the Phase III development and the Target parking lot, he said.
Even as work continues on Phase III, plans for a fourth phase are already taking shape.
“We're having preliminary conversations with the city of Allen Park, which has been incredibly supportive for phase four, and incredibly supportive of the entire development,” Schuchman said.
Meanwhile, breakfast chain First Watch recently opened at Fairlane Green in the former On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina space on the Meijer and LA Fitness side of the development. Although the restaurant is not part of ALRIG USA’s project, Schuchman said it reflects continued demand from national brands seeking space at the shopping center.
“It’s an indication of the continued interest from major national businesses wanting to join the extraordinary opportunity to open up on 'the hill,'" Schuchman said.
