Grandma Bob’s, a popular pizza spot in Corktown known for its creative, Detroit-style pizzas, is adding a second location.
Its new location is slated for a fall opening in the former Marrow restaurant and butcher shop at 8044 Kercheval in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood.
David Kwiatkowski, a co-owner of Grandma Bob’s who lives in Indian Village, said he’s excited to bring Grandma Bob’s to the neighborhood.
“I’m looking forward to having a family-friendly option in the neighborhood — a place where people can come in with their kids, sit outside on the patio, have a great pizza and a cocktail, and still be within walking distance of home,” Kwiatkowski said in a news release.

Grandma Bob’s is under the Detroit Optimist Society umbrella of restaurants,
including The Sugar House, Honest John’s, Bad Luck Bar and Time Will Tell.
In West Village, there will be a larger dining room plus an outdoor patio. According to the news release, the new location provides an expanded kitchen and production facility to develop menu options for both locations. The West Village location will have a private dining room, something the Corktown location doesn't offer.
Grandma Bob’s in West Village will feature special events that it’s known for, including its Spread Dough event. The monthly guest-chef series features a visiting chef who creates a specialty pizza; Grandma Bob’s donates all the proceeds from the sale of that pizza to a nonprofit organization selected by the chef.
Grandma Bob’s is well known locally and nationally for its creative pizzas, including the Lobster Roll Pizza that appears on its menu for a limited time in late summer.
It was in early June that Marrow, in West Village, closed.
Marrow owner Ping Ho announced in May 2026 that the West Village spot and Birmingham Marrow to-go cafe would consolidate operations into its Eastern Market restaurant locations. At Eastern Market, Marrow is a restaurant, retail butcher operation and processing facility.
In Corktown, Grandma Bob’s is at 2135 Michigan Ave. and near the renovated Michigan Central Station. Grandma Bob’s has earned numerous accolades, including the 2019 Top 50 North America Pizza list.
