If you like custom rims, clean paint jobs and loud subwoofers, then you should consider checking out the next Wet Paint Nation Car and Bike Show. The event this year was held at Charity Motors in Detroit and was packed with cars, fans and music. The lot was so packed that some of the cars were parked up and down the street, where a few people seemed to be having their own car shows.
What is Wet Paint Nation?
This was the 13th annual Wet Paint Nation show and it brings the community together to enjoy cars of all makes and models. The vehicles with flashy paint jobs or exotic looking rims attracted the most attention at the event. One of the biggest partners of the event was Utica Auto Spa, a shop that specializes in custom rims, vinyl wraps and detailing. They had some
of the rims they offer on display at their booth, including Forgiato, one of the most popular aftermarket wheel brands.
What types of cars were at the show?
There was a little bit of everything. Mostly there were muscle cars with custom rims along with flashy paint and modified interiors. There were also pickup trucks and SUVs sitting on custom wheels. There was a van with 42 speakers (I counted) and the bass was so loud I could feel it in my bones standing next to it. The sound from this van rivaled the actual DJ who was playing music at the show.
The cars outside the show
Since the parking lot at Charity Motors had a limited amount of space, some people took the show further down Grand River Avenue. As I was leaving the show, I ended up walking past even more cars lined up on the street. There were people playing music and grilling food on the side of the road, having a great time. The most interesting vehicle outside of the main show was a van with cleaning supplies, washing a car parked on the side of the main road before it entered the show.
