A new hot chicken restaurant is opening in Canton this week, and the company said the first 100 customers in line will get a free sandwich.
Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken & Wings will celebrate its grand opening Thursday, Oct. 22, at 41439 Michigan Ave., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
No purchase is necessary for the free sandwich, the company said. The offer is limited to one sandwich per person.
“We wanted to open the doors by feeding people, not by asking them for anything,” Raj Patel, owner of the Canton restaurant said in a press release. “The first 100 people who line up on Thursday get a sandwich on us, no strings attached. That is how we want to introduce ourselves to Canton.”
The restaurant specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken, with a menu
featuring sandwiches, tenders, wings, loaded fries and sides.
Customers can choose their preferred spice level, ranging from No Heat to Angry Hot.
The company said its chicken is never frozen, and sandwiches are hand-breaded in the restaurant.
Founded in 2021 and based in McLean, Virginia, Hangry Joe’s has more than 90 locations, including Michigan restaurants in Livonia, Flint and East Lansing. Canton will be its fourth Michigan location.
“Grand openings tell you a lot about a neighborhood,” Patel said. “We expect a line. We would rather run out of sandwiches than run out of people to hand them to.”
Customers can RSVP for the grand opening, but registration is not required and does not guarantee a free sandwich. The giveaway is strictly first-come, first-served, the release said.
The restaurant will begin regular business hours Friday, Oct. 23.
More information, including hours and online ordering, is available on the restaurant’s website.
