The Saginaw Police Department is investigating an arrest in which force was used against a woman, Chief Robert Ruth announced on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Police say video of the incident is currently circulating on social media. The incident remains under investigation and police are asking the public to remain patient.
"We take these matters very seriously and are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability," a Sunday news release from the department says.
In response to the incident, Ruth said the department has initiated an internal investigation to ensure polices are upheld.
In a video posted to Facebook by Breaking News 989, an officer can be seen standing over a woman punching her multiple times as police attempt
to detain her.
Saginaw Police, as of Monday Aug. 31, have not released any details of when the incident occurred or who was involved.
