It takes a lot of work to keep an old car up and running. The restomod process can make just about any classic car good as new or even better with newer modified parts. This 1953 Dodge Power Wagon was once a heavy-duty work truck, but has been turned into the type of truck you see on display at a car show. It may look shiny and fresh, but it can still get the dirty work done with its towing and off-roading capabilities.
Here is how this old truck was transformed into what it is today by Desert Power Wagons, a North Carolina company that specializes in Power Wagons made between 1946 and 1953.
What modifications were done to this Dodge Power Wagon?
One of the biggest changes to this Power Wagon was the addition of a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel six-cylinder engine. The paint on this truck is finished
in BMW C64 Frozen Deep Grey. The truck also has a custom turbo-back exhaust, an updated 4WD drivetrain, Bluetooth audio, 360 camera and more. It may look like it's just for show, but it comes with a tow winch that can handle up to 12,000 pounds.
All of the restomods feature a metal exterior that resembles the original bodywork along with a modern powertrain and safety features.
The original inline-six is an option or something as ridiculous a Hellcat engine. There's a long list of exterior and interior modifications for those who want to put their personalized spin on their restomod.
How much do these restomods cost?
Restomods take a lot of time, effort and money and their prices can reflect that. Since there are so many mods you can option onto a restomod, prices can vary drastically, even if it's for the same type of vehicle. On the Desert Power webstore there are Dodge Power Wagons selling for as low as $99,000 and as high as $424,000.
