A Grand Traverse County man who recently won a $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot said the experience was unreal.
The 48-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn Aug. 15: 4, 16, 28, 30, 36 and 37, according to the Michigan Lottery.
He told the Michigan Lottery he regularly plays draw games and believes that, "you can't win if you don't play."
The winner purchased his ticket at Northland Food Center, 2377 E. M-133 in Kingsley.
He checked the winning numbers on the Michigan Lottery app the day after the drawing and saw that his ticket matched all six numbers.
"I wanted to scream!" he told the Michigan Lottery. "I kept blinking and thinking to myself:
‘This can’t be right.’"

He recently claimed his prize and chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.7 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
He plans to use the money to buy a house, invest and take a few trips.
