After decades of serving drinks, hosting celebrations and welcoming regulars, The Bowery Grille & Pub has closed its doors for good.
“Tonight, after 27 years, we pour our final round at The Bowery,” owner Ron Ayyash wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post Aug. 5 announcing the Canton restaurant’s final night in business.
Ayyash sold property, located at 41275 Ford Road, to a developer who plans to demolish the building and replace it with a multi-tenant space that includes a Bayt al Mocha coffee shop on one side and an additional tenant on the other.
The plans are currently in the review phase with Canton Township as businesses and developers contine to clamor for space on the busy Ford Road corridor.

According to the Bowery website, the business started as a Palace restaurant in the 1970s. Ayyash said a previous owner added a bar and changed the name in 1984. He bought the business in 1999.
Ayyash said the closing was bittersweet.
“I’ve thought a lot about what to say for this post, and honestly, nothing feels like enough,” he wrote. “So instead, I just want to say thank you, for every table you filled, every celebration you let us be part of, and every time you chose to spend an evening with us instead of somewhere else.”
He thanked longtime customers, describing the regulars, families and friends who made the restaurant their gathering place over the years, as well as current and former staff members.
“We don’t know how to properly close a chapter like this one,” he wrote. “So we’ll just say: thank you for letting us be your spot, even just for a little while. It meant everything.”
