Federal law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), among others, executed search warrants in Muskegon County on Thursday, July 23, as part of an active financial and drug investigation, the Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson announced on Facebook.
The investigation also includes the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Michigan State Police, the new release says.
It is not yet clear where the raid took place. Media reports indicate Muskegon Heights City Hall is involved.
"Our ethical duties, as well as protecting the integrity of this investigation, limit our ability at this time to disclose specific details," Hilson said in a release.
"An investigation of this size
and scale takes time, and we appreciate your patience as we thoroughly investigate any potential violations of state or federal law."
This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information becomes available.
