Another familiar face is leaving Fox 2 Detroit.
Wednesday, anchor Erica Francis announced her upcoming departure from the station. She’ll head south and take a seat at the anchor desk for Tampa, Florida’s WFLA News Channel 8.
“My sweet friends,” Francis wrote in a Facebook post, “After a little more than four years at FOX 2, the time has come for me to say goodbye.
“This is a hard one to write because there are so many memories, stories and people I’ll carry with me into this next chapter.”
Francis went on to thank and celebrate those who have supported her in the community.
“Thank you for watching, for trusting me with your stories, for reaching out, and for allowing me to be part of some of the most important moments in your lives,” she wrote.
“I'll never forget it.
“The people I’ve met, the challenges you’ve overcome, the milestones you’ve celebrated and the stories you’ve shared with me, those stories became mine, too.”
Francis is the fourth high-profile departure from the Detroit station this year; Kellie Rowe stepped down last month after a decade at Fox 2 Detroit , and longtime investigative reporter Rob Wolchek retired in March after 28 years at the station. In addition, also last month, Fox 2 Detroit vice president and news director Brooks Blanton resigned after less than a year in the roles.
Francis’ final Detroit broadcast will be on Friday, Oct. 2.
