Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged the man who owns the home where a fight at a late-night party in September left three dead and four injured.
The charges against Javon Scott, brought Saturday, Oct. 10, include conducting a criminal enterprise, a maximum 20-year prison sentence, and maintaining a drug house, a two-year penalty, according to a news release from the prosecutor's office, which said Scott was to be arraigned later in the day in 36th District Court.
The charges stem from a Detroit Police Department investigation into alleged illicit activities at Scott's house, according to Worthy's office. The people shot were at a vacant lot near the home on Detroit's west side.
Christopher Rafael Gouch, 25, of Detroit, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges brought against him in connection with the mass shooting, which took place on Sept. 27 in the 14800 block of Prest Street.
The victims were attending an "after-hours" party at the residence, and Gouch is accused of firing a gun outside during a fight.
Questions over Detroit party house
Authorities are also trying to seize Scott's home, Worthy's office said in a statement. Police Chief Todd Bettison previously said police had been called there seven other times this year.
Neighbors on Prest Street met with police, city officials and civic leaders on Oct. 5 to talk about solutions, including the formation of a neighborhood block club.
