After 46 years in business, Home Interior Warehouse is closing its Walled Lake store.
A liquidation sale begins Sept. 3 at the retailer located at 1017 E. West Maple Road and promises "once-in-a-lifetime" prices on all inventory, including furniture, home accessories and rugs from around the world. Management encourages early shopping for the best selection.
“For 46 years, our customers have trusted us to be part of their homes and their lives, and many have become friends,” said owner Jackie Schwartz. “I’m incredibly grateful to the customers and community that have supported us over the years.”
The store founded by Schwartz in 1980 was originally known as Home Accessory Warehouse and sold silk floral arrangements, pottery, artwork and home accessories.
According to a company statement, "guided by Schwartz's design expertise and passion for home furnishings," the store expanded over the next dozen years and moved to its current location next to Casey's Restaurant in 1992 and rebranded at that time as Home Interior Warehouse.
Interior design services and high-quality furniture were added. Name brands at the store include Bassett Furniture, Bernhardt, Crestview, Hammary, Hooker Furniture, Jessica Charles, John Thomas Furniture, Mercana, Norwalk Furniture, Parker House, Riverside Furniture, Southern Motion, SUNPAN, Universal Furniture, USA Leather and Vanguard Furniture, Wesley Hall.
In 2018, Home Interior Warehouse expanded with a boutique location in Plymouth, and that store will remain open.
