An incident that injured six workers during load-out after Ed Sheeran's concert at Ford Field is under investigation by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
On Monday, Aug. 31, MIOSHA confirmed that it opened an investigation into the Aug. 29 incident in Detroit. The workers were injured in the stadium's vehicle tunnel following the British musician's packed Saturday night concert, according to Ford Field.
All six workers were transported to area hospitals, the Detroit Fire Department said in a statement. Two patients were in serious condition and four were in stable condition when they were transported. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
A MIOSHA spokesperson said they could not provide additional information
while the investigation remains open.
Ford Field said it has also begun its own review and is cooperating with authorities and the event's production partners.
"Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause," Ford Field said. "We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response."
Sheeran performed a nearly three-hour concert to a full house at Ford Field as part of his Loop Tour. The singer-songwriter's representatives could not be reached for comment.
