RealTruck, the parent company of Rugged Liner, issued notice this week that it willlay off 90 workers in Owosso, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity.
The employees, including 44 production assemblers and 12 machine operators, areexpected to be laid off on March 19, 2027. Rugged Liner has sites at 951 Aiken St. and 200 Universal Drive in Shiawassee County in mid-Michigan.
The Free Press reached out to RealTruck on Wednesday, Sept. 9, but company officials did not immediately respond for comment.
Rugged Liner, in the notice, did not specify why the layoffs are taking place or what will happen to the two buildings.
The company, a subsidiary of RealTruck, is
headquartered in Ann Arbor and provides automotive accessories including soft truck bed covers, truck caps and bed liners, among other things.
According to its website, RealTruck employs more than 6,000 people and operates over 35 facilities across four continents.
Rugged Liner's website touts "30 years of truck beds that earn their keep."
RealTruck restructured its credit facilities to increase investment back in April 2026, according to a news release, securing $300 million in new capital.
