A Presque Isle County woman won big in the Lucky 7s Fast Cash lottery game, claiming the jackpot prize of more than $500,000.
Shawn Penfold, 46, of Onaway, bought the winning ticket, and claimed the $530,869 jackpot, the Michigan Lottery announced in an Oct. 8 news release.
"When I saw I was the jackpot winner, I was in total shock! I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and sent my husband a screenshot to share the big news. I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster since winning. It still feels surreal," Penfold said in the release.
Where did the winner buy the Lucky 7s Fast Cash ticket?
Penfold bought her ticket at Rogers City E-Z Mart, 101 S. Bradley Hwy., according to the Michigan Lottery.
"I checked the Fast Cash jackpot online and saw it was over $500,000, so I went to the store a few
hours later and bought two tickets," Penfold said in the release. "I looked at the second ticket first and my heart dropped when I saw the jackpot amount at the top was $10,000 because I thought someone else had just won."
"I looked at the other ticket next and saw the jackpot amount at the top of that was still $530,869, so I quickly looked the rest of it over," Penfold continued.
