Detroit Police say a young woman was stabbed to death in the heart of the city's downtown on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 20.
The attack occurred about 2:20 p.m. in the 600 block of Woodward Avenue. The woman is believed have been in her mid-20s, said Detroit police spokesperson Jackson Vidaurri.
A suspect is now in police in custody and no one else was injured or killed, he said.
"There is no risk to the public," Vidaurri said, adding that the Detroit Police Department plans to host a news briefing later Sunday to provide more details.
This is a developing story.
