What is the story about?

The Detroit Tigers on Thursday, Sept. 24, announced multi-year contract extensions with TV play-by-play man Jason Benetti and longtime radio voice Dan Dickerson.

Benetti was hired before the 2024 season, replacing Matt Shepard. Benetti previously called Chicago White Sox games from 2016-23.

Dickerson has been calling Tigers games since 2000, when the club opened Comerica Park. He fills in for Benetti on TV when Benetti is on the call for college football games and, this year, NBC's "Sunday Night Baseball" games.

The Tigers (74-85) have three games remaining in their disappointing 2026 season, with the Pittsburgh Pirates visiting Comerica Park beginning Friday night. Justin Verlander is set to make his final MLB appearance starting Saturday's afternoon

game.
