In the PGA Tour’s final visit to Detroit – for now, at least – is the 2026 field for the Rocket Classic its best ever?
The 145-person field for the event – scheduled to run July 30-Aug. 2 at Detroit Golf
Club – was announced on Friday, July 24.
This year’s group features four players in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings – Nos. 3, 5, 7 and 9, in Cameron Young, Russell Henley, Chris Gotterup and Wyndham Clark (who won this year’s U.S. Open) – as well as eight in the top 20. The field has an additional burst of star power in Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth, a trio making its Detroit debut.
The Rocket will also feature the PGA Tour’s latest buzzworthy golfer in Michael Kim; the 33-year-old carded a 59 in the second round of the 3M Open in Minnesota on Friday, becoming just the 15th Tour player to hit the magic number (or lower).
There are 10 previous major winners, plus four previous winners in Detroit: 2025’s champion, Aldrich Potgieter, is back to defend his crown, while Cam Davis (2024 and 2021), Rickie Fowler (2023) and Tony Finau (2022) will join him in the Motor City.
Davis is the only two-time winner of the event, winning the 2024 tournament on the final hole after a collapse from runner-up Akshay Bhatia (who is also returning for the final Rocket Classic).
The full list of golfers in the field so far (four more will be added via qualifying on Monday):
