Mike Bouchard − an Army National Guard captain and the son of the longtime Oakland County sheriff − has won the Republican nomination to replace U.S. Rep. John James, R-Shelby Township, in Congress, according to multiple reports.
Decision Desk HQ and the Associated Press called the Republican primary in Michigan's 10th Congressional District before 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. James is leaving the seat after two terms to run for the Republican nomination for governor.
In the early tally, Bouchard appeared to have a commanding double-digit lead on the competition. Come back to freep.com for more results.
Bouchard, of Rochester Hills, had the endorsement of President Donald Trump and had been widely expected to win a nomination race over Clinton Township

The Democratic nomination in the district hadn't been decided as of 9:30 p.m. Warren lawyer Christina Hines led Sterling Heights lawyer Eric Chung and former Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel in the early results, however.
