The first renderings are out for the future expansion coming to Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital.
The eight-story and 423,000-square-foot building is expected to break ground in summer 2027 and open in 2031. The new building would grow the hospital's bed count by 94 beds to 624, while increasing the percentage of private rooms to 73% from the current 53%.
Corewell says the cost of the project is about $440 million, and includes a new emergency department waiting room and a new parking deck that will have a connecting pedestrian bridge.
“We are usually over 90% occupied, so we’ll have that capacity now to get patients into our emergency center smoother and up to those
units,” Nancy Susick, the hospital's president, said on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Troy Mayor Ethan Baker issued a statement in support of the expansion project.
“Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital has long been an important part of our community, and this investment reflects the continued growth and vitality of Troy and the surrounding region," the mayor said. "The new hospital tower will create a better experience for patients and families and will support the future health needs of our community."
