With less than three weeks to go until the Nov. 3 election, several notable members of Congress are coming into mid-Michigan's 7th District to stump for Democratic nominee Will Lawrence.
Lawrence's campaign told the Detroit Free Press that U.S. Reps. Ro Khanna of California, Lauren Underwood of Illinois, Maxwell Frost of Florida and Pramila Jayapal of Washington state, the former chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, would be coming in over the next several days to campaign.

Khanna is a leader of progressive Democrats, as well; Underwood flipped what had been a Republican-held seat in 2018 and Frost, 29, is the first Gen Z member of Congress, elected in 2022.
Lawrence, a Lansing activist, is running in a tossup district to unseat
first-term U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett, R-Charlotte, who has the endorsement of President Donald Trump and has been holding events in the district with a series of Cabinet officials and House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana.
Although the events were subject to change, Underwood was set to join Lawrence for a roundtable on Black maternal health at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, to be followed by a town hall at 5:30 p.m. in Williamston. On Monday, Oct. 19, Khanna was expected at an event at Michigan State University in East Lansing, the details of which were still being finalized.
On Thursday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m., Lawrence and Frost were expected to hold a "Money Out of Politics" town hall with Michigan State University Democrats at South Kedzie Hall, S-109, and on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m., Jayapal was expected to join Lawrence to launch a canvass to help identify supporters and get out the vote. Specific details about whether certain events would be open to the public and, if so, how the public could attend, were not immediately made available.
"It is my honor to welcome Democratic leaders to mid-Michigan and I'm grateful for their support in this race. We are united in flipping this district to rein in the expensive and lawless Trump agenda, which Tom Barrett has voted for 99% of the time," Lawrence said.
