The Detroit Lions have lost one of their leading candidates for the No. 5 receiver job.
The Lions placed wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. on injured reserve Monday, Aug. 24, with a knee injury he suffered in Saturday's preseason win over the Washington Commanders.
Wilson caught back-to-back passes, for 4 and 17 yards, n the first quarter, then injured his knee running a route on the next play. Lions coach Dan Campbell said after the game he was worried about the severity of the injury.
Wilson had been vying for the No. 5 receiver job along with Tom Kennedy, Tay Martin and others. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Isaac TeSlaa and Greg Dortch are at the top of the depth
chart at the position.
The Lions also placed running back Raheem Blackshear on injured reserve and signed running back Roydell Williams and defensive back Jason Taylor.
They worked out Williams, running back Blake Watson and centers Gus Hartwig and Sincere Haynesworth.
