This year’s Woodward Dream Cruise could be on track for a near perfect start to the day on Saturday, Aug. 15, even as the potential exists to end things on a wet note.
That’s the early forecast from Steve Freitag, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in White Lake Township.
Freitag, speaking to the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday afternoon, said to anticipate light winds, some sunshine and maybe high clouds in the morning on Saturday.
“Nice, tranquil, near perfect to start,” he said, pointing to highs around 80 during the day.
By evening, things could get “a little dicey,” with a 40% chance
of showers as a warm front approaches, Freitag said. That’s likely to suffice for many of the long-time cruisers, who often show up early to get their drives in on Woodward Avenue ahead of the crowds and the worst of the heat.
The Woodward Dream Cruise is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
