Dave Coulier and Andrea Barber, aka Uncle Joey and Kimmy Gibbler of the classic sitcom "Full House," will be appearing at The Coney, the star-studded new fundraiser for youth arts education in Detroit.
Back in June, the Children's Foundation of Michigan and Marc Evan Jackson, actor and founder of the Detroit Creativity Project, announced the creation of The Coney, a celebrity homecoming weekend that will be held in the Motor City on Sept. 25-26.
Coulier and Barber join a list that already includes an impressive array of southeast Michigan natives, including “Saturday Night Live” alum Tim Meadows, “Detroiters” and “Veep” star Sam Richardson, married actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Oscar winner J.K. Simmons and “NCIS” veteran Diona Reasonover,
along with Jackson, who has co-starred in "The Good Place" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
Also added to the star-studded lineup is Toni Trucks, a Michigan native, known for her role as Lt. Lisa Davis on the CBS series “SEAL Team.”
The Coney, which will be presented by Bedrock, Rocket, Shinola, and MoveDetroit, will include celebrity visits to various sites and culminate with a variety show at the Detroit Opera House on Sept. 26. Some tickets are still available through the Detroit Opera House website.
The Coney is working toward immediate and long-term goals that include awarding grants to organizations serving Detroit children by the end of 2026 and building the Endowed Fund for Youth Arts initiative (established at the Children’s Foundation of Michigan) to provide permanent annual funding for youth arts education.
