VASA Fitness is bringing its sprawling gym concept to Dearborn.
The company plans to open its first Michigan location Saturday, Sept. 26, at 23000 Michigan Ave. — where a Kroger store closed in 2019 and plans for an Amazon Fresh store never materialized.
VASA bills itself as a “high-value, low-price fitness club” and said the 58,300-square-foot facility will offer a range of strength and cardio equipment, coach-led classes and more.
Amenities include a three-lane indoor pool, hot tub and cold plunge, steam and sauna rooms, massage chairs and red-light therapy.
VASA Fitness launched in 2014 when a group of 17 Utah gyms rebranded under the VASA name. The company now operates more than 70 locations in nine states.

“As our first club in Michigan, Dearborn represents an exciting new chapter for VASA,” Michael Osanloo, VASA Fitness CEO, said in a press release. “We’ve seen strong demand for the kind of fitness experience VASA provides – more equipment, more ways to train and recovery amenities at an exceptional value – and we’re excited to bring that experience to Michigan.”
The new location will create approximately 50 local jobs, the company said.
“We look forward to becoming part of the Dearborn community and creating a place where people at every fitness level feel welcome, supported and motivated to keep making progress,” Osanloo said.
A second Michigan location is expected to open later this year at 30070 Plymouth Road in Livonia.
VASA Fitness in Dearborn will be open for public tours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, before officially opening the following day.
Monthly memberships start at $14.99.
