Summer is coming to an end and one of the best ways to spend one of the final warm summer days was at Cars at the Station. Michigan Central in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood hosted this car show earlier this month for the third year. There were a few hundred cars on display with thousands of spectators around the venue checking things out.
Whether you are into to something classic and classy like a Chevrolet Bel-Air or something fast and exotic like an Aston Martin Valhalla, this show had something many car fanatics would love. Best of all, the event was free to enter and was family friendly.
Cars for everyone
Cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles of every brand were parked at the station and it didn't matter what you drove, there would be people checking out your
car. As you would expect, there many muscle cars new and old throughout the venue. Directly in front of the renovated station's entrance were classic Ford vehicles such as a Ford GT and a Ford-powered F1 car. The new Lincoln lineup was on display and guests could sit in them and try the Rejuvanate relaxation system.
Test drives
For those who are in the market for a new car or just curious about trying something out, test drives were held at the show. Returning from last year was the Lucid brand, which brought back the Gravity SUV for potential customers to test drive. The automaker also had its flagship Air sedan available for spins. A representative from the brands sat in the passenger seat as you looped around Corktown and back to the station.
What cars drew the most attention?
While it's hard to say what specific car was the most eye-catching, I can say for certain that the food trucks drew the biggest crowds. For the cars that were actually a part of the show, there is no right answer. You had your classic car fanatics, American muscle lovers, exotic car enjoyers and lifted-truck fans all together in unison checking out the different types of vehicles at the event.
