CHICAGO – The Detroit Tigers' game against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, Sept. 19, has been moved up.
After originally being scheduled or 7:10 p.m. ET, the first pitch is now slated for 2:10 p.m. in what is expected to be a semi-dry window during a day of rain.
The Tigers are slated to start young right-hander Jackson Jobe (2-2, 3.89 ERA) against Chicago right-hander Sean Burke (9-7, 3.47).
With the Tigers trailing in Friday's game, there's a chance Detroit could be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss Saturday. The Tigers entered Friday with a "tragic number" – the number of Tigers losses and playoff-race leader victories needed for elimination – of three.
The Tigers trail the Cleveland Guardians by six games in the American League
Central race and the the Chicago White Sox by six games in the AL wild-card race. The Guardians and White Sox entered Friday with identical 78-75 records.
