Runners taking part in Detroit Free Press Marathon weekend can expect dry but chilly conditions Saturday and Sunday.
And Metro Detroit residents can expect another round of rain Thursday, Oct. 15, before a cold front brings in lower temperatures and gusty winds heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of the rain is over for Wednesday, though a few areas could still see a sprinkle, said Kevin Kacan, a meteorologist with the NWS in White Lake. A 60% chance of showers is expected in Metro Detroit on Thursday afternoon, with heavier rain possible in the evening and overnight.
Temperatures are expected to drop Friday, as a cold front moves through, bringing possible showers and gusty winds. Gusts could reach 35 mph
and potentially 40 mph from the afternoon into the first half of the night, Kacan said.
By Saturday morning, Oct. 17, temperatures could be near freezing, starting in the mid-30s. Highs Saturday are expected to only reach the lower 50s.
Despite the chill, the weekend should be dry.
Sunday morning, Oct. 18, temperatures are expected to start in the low to mid-30s before climbing into the lower 60s by midafternoon. Temperatures will fall to around 40 Sunday night.
Some breezy conditions are expected Sunday, though Kacan said it should be the least windy of the three-day stretch from Friday through Sunday.
