A parent was arrested after a toddler was found with a loaded gun inside a Canton daycare on Sept. 28, police said.
Canton police said officers responded to the daycare Monday after learning the child was found with the loaded firearm inside the facility.
Officers secured the gun and began an investigation that led to the arrest of one of the toddler’s parents, police said.
Police did not immediately identify the daycare, the parent who was arrested, or say how the child obtained the gun.
Police said there was no ongoing threat associated with the incident.
“The Canton Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating all weapons-related offenses, taking
these matters with the utmost seriousness,” a release said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said the case will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review once the investigation is complete.
