The Ann Arbor Fire Department has a snazzy new ride.
Hopefully, you will only see it from the outside.
An ambulance decked out in maize and blue has arrived just in time for the 2026 Michigan football season.
The University of Michigan provided $346,000 for the new 2026 Wheeled Coach Type III Ambulance, according to a release by the City of Ann Arbor.
The ambulance was put into use starting Thursday, Sept. 3, operating out of Ann Arbor Fire Station 1 downtown, and allows the fire department to have two ambulances available during home football weekends.
“The maize and blue will certainly make this ambulance stand out, but what’s most important is the additional emergency response capacity it provides our community,” Ann Arbor Fire Chief Mike Kennedy
said in a statement. “We appreciate the University of Michigan funding this ambulance and helping us ensure we have reliable resources available during football weekends and other times of increased demand.”
