Novi Police are investigating after a 46-year-old man was found dead in his city home on Monday, Aug. 31.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Jonathan Michael Harley a homicide, Novi Police said Wednesday, Sept. 2, in a statement.
Officers discovered Harley deceased at about 9:28 p.m. on Aug. 31 in his residence in the 30000 block of Joliet while conducting a welfare check after he failed to report to work.
Harley was the sole occupant of the home, and no one else was inside when officers arrived, police said.
The Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory assisted with processing the scene.
Police said they are aware of social media reports regarding possible gunshots
heard in theOakland Glens neighborhood on Saturday night. However, investigators have not confirmed shots were fired, or if they were, that they are related to Harley's death.
"Based on the information available to investigators, the social media reports do not align with the preliminary timeline of the investigation," police said.
On Wednesday, police said they do not believe there is a threat to the public related to this incident and added they would be releasing no further public information regarding the homicide.
