The Detroit Free Press sports department has a major announcement!
The first episode of the brand new "Freep Sports Show" was released on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Hosted by longtime sports columnist Shawn Windsor and sports staffer Andrew Birkle, this new show will be the Freep's flagship sports program covering all four major Detroit pro teams, plus Michigan and Michigan State.
In the first episode, Shawn and Andrew open by discussing the insane Michigan vs. Western Michigan ending, Bryce Underwood's status as starting quarterback (spoiler: it's not "infinite") and what to expect with top 10 Oklahoma coming to town this weekend.
Then, the first guest was an easy choice: Freep's own Dave Birkett joins the show to preview the 2026 Detroit Lions season,
including the biggest questions facing the Lions this year, Dave's intense encounter with Brad Holmes about Terrion Arnold, Isaac TeSlaa's weird offseason, best and worst case scenarios and more.
