Stellantis sold almost the exact amount of vehicles in the third quarters of 2025 and 2026.
That means sales remained stagnant, according to numbers the automaker released on Thursday, Oct. 1, which indicate a 0% change in sales compared with the same time period a year ago. In total for the year, from July 1 to Sept. 30, Stellantis sold 324,277 vehicles. A year ago, the company sold about 600 more vehicles.
The 0% change in sales marks the end of Stellantis' four-quarter-long streak of continuous sales growth in North America.
The sales numbers come as the automaker has spent recent months focused on turning around its business after years of dwindling market share. The stagnation, Stellantis said, isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Michael Orange,
the newly hired head of Stellantis' retail network, said in a news release that industry competition is fierce, adding that he is inspired by strong performances from some of the brand's key vehicles, like the Ram 1500 pickup trucks (up 42%), the Dodge Durango (up 18%) and the Chrysler Pacifica (up 7%).
At the offset, Wall Street had a mildly positive reaction to the news. Stellantis stock — which has been floating around an all-time low of $4.30 a share — jumped by about 10 cents immediately after the numbers were released around 1:30 pm.
A closer look at the numbers reveals the steady quarter was carried by a strong performance from the Ram brand, which was up 29% compared with the same time period a year ago, while Jeep stumbled (down 20%) and Chrysler (up 6%) and Dodge (up 2%) turned in meager gains.
Fiat was down 83%, selling only 54 vehicles this quarter. Alfa Romeo dropped 64%, too. Neither Fiat nor Alfa Romeo are expected to be sales leaders in North America for Stellantis.
The data shows that, so far in 2026, Chrysler and Ram are sales positive, while Dodge and Jeep are performing worse than the previous year.
Ram has been propelled by massive gains made by its light duty pickup trucks, sales of which are up 41% compared with the first three quarters of 2025. Chrysler, which sells one vehicle — the Pacifica minivan — is enjoying a 12% boost. The Pacifica was recently refreshed with new external looks.
None of Jeep's typical best sellers — the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee — are positive over the first three quarters of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Sales are down for all Jeep models, save for the Recon and Hybrid Cherokee, which are new models for 2026.
Dodge, down 3% on the year, is struggling as sales of the new Chargers remain low. The muscle car arm of Stellantis has sold only 767 EV Chargers so far this year. The gas powered counterpart has moved 8,029 units after going on sale in late 2025.
The automaker is attempting a reset after years of product decisions that fell flat. The day before sales numbers were released, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa said at an event in downtown Detroit that he was confident in the brand's future as it begins executing on a four-year plan to revive sales and profits.
General Motors posted a 5.5% drop in sales for the third quarter earlier in the day. Ford Motor Co. is expected to report sales on Oct. 2.
