Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell delivered a fiery locker-room speech after the Lions beat the rival Green Bay Packers, 20-17, on Sunday, Oct. 25, praising his defense and special teams before turning his attention to the Minnesota Vikings.
"That’s a big win, man," Campbell said during his locker room speech, his hat off. "'Cause you guys [expletive] laid the wood that whole game. The whole first half, second half."
Campbell on defense
"Man, you talk about playin’ sticky, going after the football. [Expletive] violence? Defense, that was outstanding."
Campbell singles out DeAndre Carter
"Hey, Carter, where you at?," Campbell said, referring to veteran wide receiver and return specialist DeAndre Carter.
"Yes, sir," Carter says.
"Woah," Campbell says and the
locker room erupts in cheers.
"And he just got here, gentlemen," Campbell continues. "He just rolled up. Oh boy. That’s good."
Free Press Lions writer Dave Birkett said Carter, who signed with the team after a workout Oct. 15, was a shoestring away from breaking big kick and punt returns during the game.

"Offensively, listen, that’s the way to finish it out, man," Campbell continued. "We’re going to help you. We will help you. We can be better as a staff there, OK? But we talked about finishing that game out. We were not getting that ball back. That’s a hell of a job, man. That’s a hell of a job, offense."

Campbell handed out one game ball, though admits he could hand out many. It went to cornerback Khalil Dorsey with 3 tackles. "[Expletive] fearless," Campbell said.
What's next
The Lions next host another NFC rival, the Minnesota Vikings, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 (Fox).
"We’re 1-0 in the division and we got Minnesota walkin’ in," Campbell said in closing. "You can’t ask for anything better. We are getting on to Minnesota. So when you guys come back in the door, we all ready to go."
