A Wayne County man plans to pay off his debt after recently winning $2 million on a Michigan Lottery instant ticket.
The 37-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the Big Money Pay Day ticket at Safeway Market Inc., 8031 Dix St. in Detroit, according to the Michigan Lottery.
"I bought a Big Money Pay Day ticket late one night and scratched it when I got in my car before heading home," he told the Michigan Lottery. "When I saw I’d won $2 million, I was in complete shock!
"I buy scratch-off tickets all the time and have won smaller prizes, but I honestly never thought I’d win a big prize like this, so I feel over the moon excited and blessed."
He recently
claimed his prize and chose to receive a one-time lump-sum payment of about $1.3 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

"This big win will allow me to pay off all my debt and then I plan to save the rest of the money for whatever the future may have in store for me," he said.
Big Money Pay Day costs $20 to play. The game launched with three top prizes of $2 million. Two of those prizes remain.
