A Macomb County woman was determined to buy lottery tickets at a certain party store, and it paid off with a $1 million win.
The 67-year-old recently won a top prize playing the Michigan Lottery's 50X instant game, according to the agency.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, had been at a store with her husband when he asked if she wanted to buy lottery tickets. She told him no because she wanted to buy tickets at a certain party store. The next day, she went to that store, Diamond Dot Market, 38500 Hayes Road in Clinton Township, and bought a few 50X tickets.
Before scratching the tickets, she checked the game's unclaimed prizes and saw that two top prizes were still available. Her husband, however, doubted the winning tickets had not yet
been purchased.
She then scratched her ticket and was stunned at what she saw.
"When I scratched the ticket and saw the $1 million win, I slid the ticket over to him and said: 'I told you they were out there!'" she told the Michigan Lottery. "We both just sat there in silence for a while because we were stunned. Once it sunk in, we called a few family members to tell them the good news!"
She recently claimed her prize as a one-time lump-sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

She plans to use the money to pay off her grandchild's student loans, buy a new truck and take a vacation.
The 50X game costs $10 to play and launched with three $1 million top prizes. One of those prizes remains unclaimed.
