The top trade target for the Detroit Lions is off the board.
The Dallas Cowboys agreed to trade for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. late on Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to The Ringer's
Tom Pelissero.
It has not yet been reported what the Cowboys gave up to get Porter or if a new contract is part of the deal.
Porter has been connected to both the Lions and Cowboys in the recent weeks as the cornerback has not been playing for the Steelers after contract talks reportedly hit a snag. He is also dealing with a back injury.
The need for the Lions at defensive back has been obvious, as Dan Campbell's squad is last in the NFL in multiple defensive statistics, allowing 299.3 pass yards per game to go along with 31.7 points allowed per game, also last.
The Lions are also playing without both of their starting safeties, Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, who have not played this year as they recover from injuries, and also lost safety Avonte Maddox for the season to an injury.
