The Detroit Pistons have picked up Ron Holland's fourth-year rookie scale team option for the 2027-28 season, according to a report from spotrac.com's Keith Smith.
It's a standard procedure for the Pistons, since rookie-scale contracts have built-in team options in the third and fourth seasons. Holland, 21, has been a key role player since he was drafted fifth overall in 2024. He has appeared in 159 out of a possible 164 regular season games, missing five due to injury or suspension.

Holland averaged 8.2 points, four rebounds and 1.2 steals per game last season. He's developed into the team's second-best perimeter defender after All-Defensive first team selection Ausar Thompson and has been a core part of their chaotic identity on that end of the floor.
The team has high hopes for Holland this season in Year 3, and he's worked on rounding out his offensive game. Holland will be eligible for an extension next summer. If he doesn't sign, he will become a restricted free agent once his rookie contract expires in 2028.
