OCALA − A 29-year-old pedestrian died Sept. 9 in a hit-and-run crash on County Road 200A, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The driver later returned to the scene and was arrested.
According to an email from FHP, a silver Ford Explorer was northbound on CR 200A approaching Northeast 110th Street north of Ocala about 8:05 a.m.
The 29‑year‑old pedestrian, identified only as a man from Ocala, was walking along the east shoulder of CR 200A.
The Ford Explorer traveled off the roadway to the right and struck the man. The pedestrian was later pronounced deceased on scene.
FHP says that after hitting the pedestrian, the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene.
The driver returned to the scene about an hour later, FHP said. According to the agency's
account, he was driving the damaged vehicle and admitted to being the driver and leaving the crash scene.
The driver, Matthew Boardman, 29, was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
