A single-vehicle crash on Sept. 28 in west Marion County claimed the life of the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Where was the crash? Southwest 140th Avenue and Southwest 20th Place, about a mile north of West State Road 40.
What time was the crash? Law enforcement received the call at 2:32 a.m. on Sept. 28, according to dispatch records.
Which agency is investigating the crash?
Florida Highway Patrol.What happened? Troopers said a 28-year-old Ocala man was driving a Honda Civic north on Southwest 140th Avenue. The vehicle veered right onto an incline off the roadway.
From there, the car struck a wooden utility pole and a concrete utility pole. The wooden pole was snapped in two, with the top half suspended
in the air. The large concrete pole was unmoved.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and the car eventually made its way to the bottom of the two-lane roadway, then stopped, FHP said.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers believe speed was a factor in the crash.
The Honda was destroyed on impact. The car's parts, including the engine, were scattered throughout the area.
Employees from SECO Energy were called to the scene to replace the wooden utility pole and to make sure there was no other damage.
SECO workers said no homes were affected by power outage from the crash. Troopers said they were notified about the crash by a neighbor who heard a loud noise.
Marion County Sheriff's deputies blocked the roadway so troopers and utility workers could do their work.
