A Florida Amber Alert was issued for a 13-year old Ocala girl on Monday, July 27. According to officials, the girl was last seen at her home in the 9100 block of Southwest 27th Avenue between 2 and 4 p.m. She was found and reported safe about 6:15 p.m.
The last Amber Alert in Marion County was in September 2025. As it turned out, the subject of that alert, a 17-year-old Citrus County boy, was accused of faking his own kidnapping in Marion.
The teen was prosecuted on charges including shooting into a conveyance, making a false report of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a minor. He was sentenced to one year of house arrest, including wearing an electronic monitor for six months.
He also was ordered to undergo counseling, complete a gun safety
course, and pay close to $25,000 in restitution for the cost of the investigation.
