The Florida high school football season heads to Week 5 for the Ocala area, and the rest of the state. Locally, a few teams have the week off, but that doesn't mean there aren't storylines.
Forest's dream season kicks off the week Thursday at East Ridge. The Wildcats take on a Knights team that is in Class 6A and coming off their first loss of the season to South Sumter. Over the next four weeks, Forest runs a gauntlet; a win here would be huge for its team confidence.
Dunnellon also looks to stay perfect in 2026 with a trip to Lakewood Ranch. The Mustangs have lost two in a row after two wins to start the year. A Tigers win, and likely wins the two games after that, would set them up for their
final three games, which are all big ones: At Santa Fe (likely for a district title), followed by Niceville at home and at Hawthorne.
Meanwhile, closer to home, North Marion and West Port square off in a county game that will give someone an energy jolt. Vanguard and South Marion are both off.
