The Friday Night Lights have returned.
Florida's FHSAA high school football officially kicks off on Friday, Aug. 21, with teams around Marion County aiming high again in 2026.
Along with the traditional
powers and storylines comes a new chapter in local football. South Marion officially has opened its doors and will start with a varsity program this fall. The Bears, however, will have to wait a bit for their first home game after ground conditions forced the school to tear up its brand new field.
Beyond that, old rivalries are on the schedule and several fun non-conference games will be on the way.
